Giardini Di Mirò's most experimental and darkest record to date. It's a soundtrack to an old silent film, so don't expect the trademark Giardini sounds on this one...but it is rather beautiful.

Fall Of Efrafa - Inlé

Label: Sound Devastation Records
Year: 2009
Genre/s: Post-Metal/Post-Rock/Sludge
Origin: Brighton, UK
Listen If You Like/Recommended to fans of: Cult Of Luna, Bossk, General Lee, Rosetta, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Neurosis, Callisto

Fall Of Efrafa's final album in the "Warren Of Snares" trilogy is something to hold dear. It marks the farewell of the band, and it is also their masterpiece. The last two albums from this band, although were decent enough efforts, didn't reach the potential and awesomeness this band showed. Inlé does everything their previous efforts couldn't do, and it does it comfortably. EPIC is the best way you can describe this LP. It's a mammoth of an album. Five of the seven tracks all surpass the 10-minute mark, totaling the album at 80 minutes. Everything has leaped by miles on this effort. The riffs, the instrumentation, the vocals, the atmosphere, the production, everything. Build-ups that easily stand up with all of the above artists I mentioned (May not sound like GY!BE, but the influences are evident). "The Burial" is as beautiful as any music can ever get, but once the final track "The Warren Of Snares" starts, it's the band's final farewell and their defining masterwork. So, who said the apocalypse can't be beautiful?

Lullabye Arkestra - Threats/Worship

Label: Vice
Year: 2009
Genre/s: Hard Rock/Stoner Rock/Drum 'n Bass Duo/Rock 'n Roll/Garage Rock
Origin: Toronto, Canada
Listen If You Like/Recommended to fans of: Death From Above 1979

Lullabye Arkestra is a duo comprised of Justin Small and Katia Taylor. Justin is on drums and his partner Katia is on bass. Oh and by the way they kick huge freakin' ass. This here is one fuzzed-out, loud, sweaty, intense and rocking record. Both members are frequent members of the Indie scene. Justin Small is in the amazing Do Make Say Think, but Lullabye's sound is the complete opposite of DMST's Post-Rock tones. Let's face it Lullabye Arkestra are pure booty shaking hard rock, and "Threats/Worship" takes no prisoners, it destroys. It's dirty, it's loud, it's Lullabye Arkestra.

The Antlers - Hospice

Label: Frenchkiss Records
Year: 2009
Genre/s: Indie/Post-Rock/Ambient/Slowcore
Origin: Brooklyn, New York, USA
Listen if you like/recommended to fans of: Efterklang, Deerhunter, Blueneck

Complex, heartfelt, atmospheric, beautiful. These are some of the many qualities that are so apparent and obvious in The Antlers latest effort. The lyrics tell the tale of a man losing a loved one to bone cancer, it's not exactly happy, shiney stuff, but it certainly is an album to be caught up in. "Kettering" officially starts the tale and perfectly sets up the atmosphere for the album which ultimately ends in tragedy. This atmosphere remains constant, but it ends before you know it. One of the finest concept albums in recent memory. Not for casual listening, and the faint of heart. Hospice is as fragile as life, yet it's as beautiful as anything you could ever possibly hear...
